Our goal is to provide space for anyone in the sustainable and fashion communities to get their work out there. This is a place to be creative, and show off your interests in a community that cares. Wether it’s a piece about a brand new designer, a rant about how you hate crocs, a series of nature photography, or a cited study on environmentally conscious styrofoam, we want to hear what you have to say! Welcome to the HUB for all things FASHION & SUSTAINABILITY
Swimming & Style
Liz Farias recently visited Splash! A Century of Swimming and Style at the Design Museum in London (March 28–August 17, 2025), and it was a treasure trove of history, design, and culture. The exhibition dives into everything from the rise of public pools and the evolution of swimsuits to swim culture as a marker of class and identity, with a mermaids section for good measure.
Experimentation in Fashion
You stumble upon a video of a subway station in Manhattan. There’s no music to the video, just the shuffling of wheels on tracks, the monotone echo of train times, and the screech of trains as they come to a halt. Suddenly, a woman enters the frame, pacing back and forth and waiting for the 6 train in an outfit that seems to be entirely composed of pieces from your closet that you would hesitate to wear in public. She says nothing–only meanders around, plays with some poses, showcases the movement and the layering of her outfit to the audience on the other side of the screen. She lets the clothes speak for themselves, and they do speak.
College Student Sustainability
As a broke college student, I know how hard it can be to shop sustainably when it feels like everything good for the environment is way too expensive. The main thing I try to tell myself is that if I don't need it, then I shouldn’t get it. But sometimes, new things are inevitable (and shopping is fun).
The Art of a Get Ready Playlist
What’s the point of a good outfit if you haven’t got the confidence to fill it out? The right music is the ultimate accessory to lift your mood and turn your look into a statement. Here are two summer playlists to soundtrack your next styling session.
The Female Gaze
The female gaze: what is it? The female gaze is more of a perspective. It stems from the feminist movement and shows femininity as something to embrace, regardless of the gender of who you may be looking at, and instead of reinforcing the norm of heterosexuality, it instead asks questions about it. This article delves into how fashion choices can cater to the female gaze and how, sometimes, what is advertised for women’s fashion is not for us.
